Broadcast Journalism

This course prepares students to work in radio and TV news and factual programming and includes a work placement. The course is based at the University's Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism, with dedicated newsrooms and studio facilities.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree (minimum 2.1) and enthusiasm for, or experience of journalism. Applicants with a 2.2 and substantial experience will be considered. Applications from candidates with non-standard entry qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing, and 5.5 in speaking and listening.

Course modules

Core modules: broadcast journalism skills and digital production; media law; communication and ethics; public affairs for journalists; multiplatform project.
