Media and Globalisation

Students on this course critically analyse the role and impact of the media industry in a global society to become critically aware of the implications of these debates for research strategies, theorising and practicing; alongside the theoretical content, they also engage with the theory and practice of alternative audio-visual narratives and the key media production processes and professional practices relevant to media, cultural and communicative industries; finally, our students also engage with practical issues that are presently affecting media industries, this is directly relevant to those wishing to work within the media field in the future.

Entry requirements

A good UK Honours degree (minimum 2.2) in a relevant subject; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5.

Course modules

Approaching and doing research; media and globalisation: theoretical, practical and contemporary issues.

Assessment methods

Course work, report writing, presentations and group work. Students also produce a dissertation.
