This research-based course is designed for those working in the field of education at all levels. It is suitable for teachers, lecturers and administrators working in schools, post-compulsory or university sectors. Although it is not a teaching degree and does not provide qualified teacher status (QTS), it is ideal for those who have completed an accredited teacher-training programme or degree and wish to study the field of education further.

Entry requirements

A good degree, at a minimum of 2.2 from a recognised university. Work experience is preferred, but applications will be considered without it. The University can find placements during the course for students without experience.

Course modules

Modules may include: research skills; dissertation; behaviour management: learner and practice team; education policy and practice; leading change in education; perspectives on special education needs (SEN) and inclusive practice; principles of practice in yearly years, reflection on continuing professional development (CPD) experience.

Assessment methods

Modules are assessed, there are no formal examinations. Students also work on a small scale research project, literature review and a research based dissertation.
