Secondary Education (Mathematics)
The course is designed to promote the development of subject knowledge required for teaching mathematics in secondary schools, communication skills and an awareness of the nature of teaching and learning secondary mathematics. The course is run in partnership with the University of Leicester and Bishop Grosseteste College in Lincoln. The course is intended to support graduates as they develop their breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge before they begin an initial teacher training course (ITT) which would lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Applications should be made directly with the provider.
Good UK Honours degree or equivalent at a minimum 2.2 containing some elements of the subject to be taught. A level mathematics or equivalent or some mathematics within degree. GCSE English, science and mathematics grade C minimum or equivalent. Evidence of acceptance onto a PGCE or Schools Direct course. Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and mandatory interview.
