Chemistry and Chemistry (Professional Practice)
The course enables you to enhance your knowledge of chemistry; you can expand your interest further by selecting from a range of optional modules; you will also benefit from working on a research project within 1 of the diverse range of internationally recognised research groups.
UK Honours degree (minimum 2.2) or equivalent in a chemistry related subject including forensic science, pharmacology and pharmacy; applicants with relevant employment experience or other relevant qualifications are considered; international students need IELTS 6.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening, speaking and writing) or TOEFL iBT 83 (with minimum reading:18, listening:17, speaking: 20, writing: 17); other English language qualifications may be taken into consideration.
Core modules: organic synthesis and characterisation of biologically active compounds; physical properties of solid state and nano composite materials; inorganic chemistry beyond the molecule; research methods; research project. Optional modules: chemotherapeutics; drug detection, analysis and screening.
Written exam; oral presentation; assignment; poster presentation; thesis.
