Engineering (Cybernetics and Communications)
This theoretical and practical course combines computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering and management to enable greater understanding of cybernetics and communications; students develop imaginative and innovative design, enterprise, leadership and interpersonal skills.
A UK Honours degree (minimum 2.2) or equivalent in computing, technology or engineering. Applicants with relevant employment experience or other relevant qualifications are also considered; international students need IELTS 6.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening, speaking and writing) or TOEFL iBT 83 (with minimum reading:18, listening:17, speaking: 20, writing: 17). Other English language qualifications may be taken into consideration.
Modules include: applied industrial process control; group design project; major project; research methods; wireless communications and mobile networking. Optional modules: entrepreneurial leadership and project management; global business management; multimedia technology design; smart engineering and natural computing; software engineering 1.
Global business management is assessed by a combination of both coursework and examination. All other modules are assessed by coursework, case studies and projects.
