Nottingham Trent University
The programme is designed to offer Master's level inter-professional education and training in chosen specialised areas within the helping and social care professions. At the core of the course is an ethos of shared teaching and learning that aims to promote effective inter disciplinary working. You will complete the programme through building on an existing PG Diploma or PG Certificate qualification which meets the framework / pathway learning outcomes. You will enhance your understanding of research methods and ethical investigative practice. Practitioners from different disciplines will share knowledge and thereby enhance reflective practice.
You will need an undergraduate degree or equivalent to a UK undergraduate Honours degree (normally a 2.2 minimum). Applicants without such qualifications will be considered on an individual basis but will be required to demonstrate how their experiences and knowledge would enable them to study this course at Masters Level in their personal statement. Applicants will also need at least 60 pre-existing HE M-level credits in a relevant area of professional practice, for example a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education or pre-existing credits in the area of leadership and management, health or social care. Other qualifications worth 60 HE M-level credits or more will be considered if they are relevant to this area of professional practice. Applicants will normally be working in an organisation on which they can base their assessments.
To obtain the MA award you will need 180 credits. Before applying, you will need at least 60 pre-existing credits in a relevant area of professional practice. The core modules include: research methods module; research dissertation or service evaluation project.
You will be assessed through written assignments. Examples of assessment in other modules include reflective assignments, research projects, practice projects, and the design and critique of learning experiences.
