History (Master of Arts part 2) (A826)

This course is primarily focused on the planning and writing of a 15000-word dissertation and builds on skills and knowledge gained from MA history part 1 (A825); the dissertation tests students ability to present a sustained academic argument in clear, logical prose; students are not expected to make an original contribution to scholarly knowledge, but they must demonstrate an understanding of work done in the subject area, with a thorough survey of primary and secondary sources; a tutor supports students in the development of their work.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have passed MA history part 1 (A825).

Assessment methods

2 tutor-marked assignments; end-of-course assessment.
