Open University

Business Administration (E80)

The course is a valuable qualification in its own right as well as taking students two thirds of the way to gain our internationally recognised and triple accredited MBA. The postgraduate diploma is designed for practising managers who aspire to higher positions. The emphasis in learning is directly rooted management practice enabling students to apply this in their workplace as they develop interdisciplinary skills. Students also gain a solid foundation in core disciplines, including human resource management, organisational behaviour, accounting and finance, marketing and operations.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a managerial, professional or technical role; usually this means that students are at least 25 years old as it is unusual (but not impossible) to be able to satisfy the 'experience' requirement under this age; there are 2 main routes into the postgraduate diploma: if students already hold an Honours degree awarded by a UK university, or equivalent, students can start their studies with the Stage 1 module MBA stage 1: management: perspectives and practice (B716):if applicants are experienced in managerial work but do not have an Honours degree or equivalent applicants need first to gain our Professional Certificate in Management (S01), this is designed to be studied over one year and is a valuable management qualification in its own right.
