Dissertation in Mathematics (M840)
Course enables students to carry out a sustained, guided, independent study of a topic in mathematics; currently 3 topics to choose from are history of modern geometry; advances in approximation theory; and calculus of variations applied to Eigenvalue problems; students need to master appropriate mathematics and present work in the form of essays, 2 drafts and final dissertation.
Students must be registered for the MSc in mathematics or for another qualification towards which the course can count, and must have passed at least 4 other courses in the MSc in mathematics.
