Non-Linear Ordinary Differential Equations (M821)

Students develop schemes to approximate the solutions of autonomous and non-autonomous equations to understand how these solutions behave; periodically forced nonlinear oscillators and nonlinear oscillators with periodically time-varying parameters leading to parametric resonances are discussed, along with the stability of these solutions and tests for obtaining stability.

Entry requirements

At least a 2nd class Honours degree in mathematics or another degree with a high mathematical content, such as engineering or theoretical physics. For students whose 1st language is not English an IELTS score of 7.0 is required.
