This online module covers the data management principles, practices and technologies required to develop policies, procedures and systems that control, protect, deliver and enhance the value of an organisation's data asset. Students acquire practical skills in data, database, metadata and business intelligence management. Among the topics covered are: data analysis and modelling; data quality and security; structured and semi-structured data; relational and non-relational databases; distributed and cloud databases; data warehousing and data mining; NoSQL and 'Big Data'.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree (or equivalent) in computing or a related discipline, or alternatively have at least 3 years relevant industry experience. Applicants should also have data analysis, database, SQL and programming experience from previous study or professional work. Applicants should have a reasonable standard of spoken and written English to study successfully with us.
