Oxford Brookes University has a strong strategic relationship with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). As such, studying this accounting master's degree is excellent preparation for a career in accounting, or a related profession like auditing or finance. You will develop the all-round capabilities needed to be a successful accounting professional. These include teamworking, problem solving and communication, research and analytical skills. MSc Accounting is designed for people wishing to begin a career in accountancy. As teaching starts from an introductory level it may not be suitable for those who already have an undergraduate degree in Accounting.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a second class honours degree (2:2) in any academic discipline, or equivalent overseas degree from a recognised institution or equivalent professional or other qualification.

Applicants who possess a diploma rather than a good degree may be eligible for entry provided they have compensatory work experience and can demonstrate career development.

This course attracts students from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities. Applications are welcome from those in work and seeking continuing professional development.

Please note: MSc Accounting programme is a conversion degree and as such is not suitable for applicants who have studied an undergraduate degree in accounting

Course modules

Business concepts and skills; managerial accounting and performance management; financial accounting and reporting; corporate finance concepts; finance and accounting research project. Elective modules 1 or 2 elective modules from a choice of: audit and assurance; corporate governance; corporate social responsibility; finance in context; financial modelling; international business in practice: study trip; international finance.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes a range of activities including examinations, case studies, reports, presentations and group projects.
