Accounting and Finance
Students on this course learn to understand accounting and financial information, analyse problems and participate in management decision making. The programme covers financial accounting, management accounting and corporate finance. A Research Project allows students to develop a deeper knowledge in an area of interest.
A minimum of a good 2nd Class Honours degree in any subject. Students need to show significant evidence of numeric ability either from their undergraduate degree or from advanced school qualifications (for example an A-level or high grade GCSE in maths). Applications from students without these qualifications but with relevant work experience will be considered. If English is not the 1st language students need to have the following level of English language competency: minimum 6.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing and 5.5 in listening and speaking). Students that have completed their undergraduate degree in the UK (at least 1 full year of study) will automatically meet the English language requirements.
Skills and techniques for accounting and finance; managerial accounting and performance management; financial accounting and reporting; corporate finance concepts; financial markets and institutions; finance and accounting research project. Elective modules: financial modelling; corporate governance; corporate social responsibility; audit and assurance; finance in context; international finance.
Assessment will include a range of activities including examination, case study, reports, presentations and group projects.
