Contemporary Arts and Music
The course encourages active engagement with contemporary debates in cross art form practices: the role of the viewer, conceptual approaches to creative practice, the relationship of sound and image, the selection of materials, process, mapping, documentary strategies, installation, site-based creative processes, interdisciplinary approaches, and the role of performance in contemporary arts practice.
A good Honours degree, an Upper 2nd or 1st, in any subject, or evidence of equivalent prior experience in creative practice; English language requirements: IELTS 6.0-7.0 (normally with 6.0 in reading and writing and a minimum of 5.5 in listening and speaking).
Interdisciplinary modules: creative strategies, research and development. Specialist module: contemporary practice in art and music.
Assessment methods include: practical presentations of resolved artworks; written self-evaluations for each creative project; a written research portfolio; written assignments and reports; a final presentation of practical work as part of the MA exhibition/event.
