Students gain knowledge and experience of publishing in European context; there is a period of study at a partner institution in another country, and an extended work placement in another European country; students develop an ability to operate in different linguistic and cultural contexts.
Applicants should have: a commitment to work in the publishing or communications media industries; two references; either a good first level (eg BA) degree equivalent to an upper 2nd or 1st class degree in the UK in any subject or significant industry experience proven ability to understand written and spoken French, German or Slovene, and the ability to develop writing skills to university level in 1 of these languages (indicated by achieving at least B2 level on the European Language Ladder); if applicants 1st language is not English, English language qualifications at the level of British Council (IELTS) test 7.0 minimum or TOEFL 100 minimum (internet based), or equivalent.
Core modules: design and production for publishing; editorial management; marketing management for publishing; international work placement; dissertation; specialist modules: new product development; e-publishing; international publishing management; publishing and language issues; rights management; history and culture of publishing; journals publishing; children's publishing; magazine publishing; digital media publishing.
Assessment is one hundred per cent coursework.
