The MA in International Publishing is a good choice for students who may already be working in publishing but want to increase their knowledge of international publishing management and issues related to publishing in a global environment. Students focus on international issues in their major project or dissertation. The MA consists of four compulsory modules and two elective modules plus a dissertation or major project. The PGDip consists of four compulsory modules and two elective modules.
A good degree in any subject or significant industry experience is required. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to work in the publishing or communications industries. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require English language level of IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
Compulsory modules include: Design and production for publishing; editorial management; marketing management for publishing; international publishing management; dissertation or major project. Optional modules include: e-publishing; journals publishing; new product development; children's publishing; magazine publishing; publishing and language; rights management; history and culture of publishing; digital media publishing; independent study in publishing.
Assessment is primarily by coursework. A limited number of class tests assess your skills in applying marketing terms and in proof reading.
