The course encourages active engagement with contemporary debates in visual art: the role of the viewer, conceptual approaches to creative practice, the selection of materials, process, mapping, documentary strategies, installation, site-based creative processes, interdisciplinary approaches, and the role of performance in contemporary arts practice. Students take 3 compulsory modules - creative strategies; research and development; and contemporary arts, and a 4th - in which they develop their major project related to their specialist concerns.
An Upper 2nd or 1st Class Honours degree in any subject or an internationally recognised equivalent. IELTS 6.0-7.0 overall (with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking) if English is not your 1st language.
Core modules include: creative strategies; research and development; contemporary arts.
The assessment methods include:practical presentations of resolved artworks, written self-evaluations for each creative project, a written research portfolio, written assignments and reports and a final presentation of practical work as part of the MA Festival which includes exhibitions and events.
