Midwifery - Pre-Registration
The MSc in Midwifery is a professional programme leading to registration for graduates with a first degree.
Midwives are the primary healthcare professionals in normal pregnancy and childbirth: they provide health and parent education, carry out antenatal and post-natal assessments, and support mothers and families through pregnancy and after the birth. They also provide care during labour and birth in a variety of settings, including home birth.
Honours degree normally with a 1st or 2.1 classification. A-level grade B (or equivalent) in biology or human biology. 5 GCSEs, including mathematics, English language and a science subject (i.e. chemistry or biology) at grade C or above (or equivalent). All applicants must be screened for fitness to practise. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be made. Post-experience 21-month master's degree: Honours degree in nursing with a 1st classification. 5 GCSEs, including mathematics and English language. All applicants must be registered on Part 1 (adult) of the NMC register and have at least 6 months post registration experience. All applicants must be screened for fitness to practise. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be made. All non-UK midwifery applicants are required to have an IELTS score of 7.0 in all areas.
