International law in the broadest sense is concerned not only with inter-state relations, but also with relations between states, individuals, international organisations and other non-state actors. It encompasses issues relating to the creation of legal obligations, recognition of states, the role of international organisations, liability for international crimes and dispute settlement, as well as questions such as the use of force, environmental protection, human rights and regulation of international trade and investment.
1st or upper 2nd class Honours degree, or an equivalent degree awarded by a university outside the United Kingdom. The degree may be in law or in a related discipline. In addition, students whose 1st or main language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency such as an IELTS minimum score of 6.5.
International law; advanced legal research methods; 3 options from: international trade law; international investment law; international human rights law; international criminal law; international humanitarian law; international refugees and migrants; European Union law; world trade regulations; international commercial arbitration; international environmental law; international labour law; international intellectual property law; International Law on the Use of Force; international corporate governance; 15000-word Master's dissertation.
Assessment methods include coursework and individual and group presentations.
