Advanced Professional Practice in Paediatric Dietetics

This course is aimed at qualified dietitians working in paediatric dietetics. It is delivered in partnership with the Paediatric Group of the British Dietetic Association (BDA). Students will benefit from the knowledge and experience of leading clinical practitioners from across the UK and develop as an evidence-based practitioner with advanced skills in clinical reasoning, critical appraisal, problem solving and leadership.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally have a relevant 1st class or 2.1 Honours degree, or a European 1st cycle equivalent in dietetics and should have experience of professional practice in paediatric dietetics. Non-UK based candidates must be recognised as a dietician within their own country. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS minimum of 6.5 in each part. An interview may be necessary and applicants will normally be required to submit a short piece of writing as part of the admissions process.

Course modules

Core modules: Project Design for Research, Research Dissertation and Applying Evidence to Practice. Optional modules include: Dietetic Management of Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD), Nutrition and Dietetics in Infancy and Childhood, Nutrition and Dietetics in Common Paediatric Disorders, Clinical Dietetics for Infants and Children and Neonatal Nutrition. The modules shown for this course or programme are those being studied by current students, or expected new modules. Modules are subject to change depending on year of entry.
