Advanced Professional Practice in Occupational Therapy

This course is aimed at occupational therapists wishing to develop their skills and knowledge in critical thinking. This pathway offers students the opportunity to study occupation as a focus of contemporary practice and explore cutting-edge theory and research from occupational science and occupational therapy. Students will learn how to search for, critique and apply research evidence to their practice, and be primed with the skills to be an evidence-based practitioner, ready to lead and to develop others in dynamic settings.

Entry requirements

Normally a 1st degree (BSc Honours at 2.1 or above or European 1st cycle equivalent) in occupational therapy. Non UK-based candidates must be recognised as an occupational therapist within their own country. Applicants who do not have a degree but have appropriate experience related to the programme or to any of the chosen pathways may be eligible to apply. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS minimum of 6.5 in each part. Applicants may be invited for an interview and will normally be required to submit a short piece of writing as part of the admissions process.

Course modules

Core modules: Project Design for Research, Research Dissertation and Applying Evidence to Practice. Optional modules include: Occupational Therapy Practice: Supported Study.
