Podiatric Medicine

The course is designed to develop the academic skills of people considering or presently working in extended scope roles or specialisation.

Entry requirements

Students will be chiropodist/podiatrists registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC); candidates should have the relevant honours degree; those with a professional diploma or unclassified degree should have at least 2 years professional experience.

Principles of diagnostic investigations; pharmacology for surgical practice; research methods; chronic disease management; dermatology; tissue viability by e-learning; management of the foot and lower limb; management of diabetes care services; prevention and management of diabetes complications; podopaediatrics; diabetes and tissue viability; evaluation of diabetes and developing practice; health psychology and diabetes; medicine and pathology; diagnostic imaging for podiatrists; anatomy for surgery; independent learning in health and social care; work based learning; dissertation.
