Healthcare Research Methods

This is programme is designed to give you the necessary academic background and specialist skills to carry out healthcare research in a contract research organisation, pharmaceutical industry or health service environment. The modular nature of the programme is designed to fit in with full-time employment.

Entry requirements

A relevant Honours degree required, or an appropriate professional qualification (for example nursing) or relevant experience. English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 610 score.

Course modules

Modules include: Clinical study design; practical aspects of clinical research and early drug development; ethics and regulation; data management and statistics; specific topics in clinical trial design; elective dissertation; health outcomes and pharmacoeconomics; marketing healthcare; research project/dissertation; health and the human body; healthcare organisation and decision-making; module options include; drug discovery and preclinical research and development; toxicology.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on essay-style answers, a series of shorter answers or a mixture of both. There is no final written examination.
