The course core provides an introduction to film and communication theory, an overview of national cinemas, and an outline of film history during the 20th century.
An upper 2nd Class degree or equivalent in film or a relevant subject.
Modules include: Auteur direction; comedies of desire; film history: hollywood and the second world war; history, fiction and memory in french cinema; hollywood's Vietnam; married to the mob: mafia representations in Hollywood and Italian cinema; reading images; soviet montage cinema; paris on the screen; sighting gender and sexuality in Latin American film.
