The course offers students the opportunity to gain a detailed knowledge of EU law in a range of fields. These include constitutional law, the law relating to the single market, competition law, environmental law, employment law, the law on migration, and human rights law.
Applicants must have a degree in Law, or a degree with a substantial law content, of at least 2.1 honours (or equivalent). Law graduates with 2.2 honours who also have other legal qualifications and/or substantial professional legal experience may also qualify. Non-law graduates: Non-law graduates with a minimum 2nd Class Honours degree, that have also obtained a Merit (or 60 per cent) in the Common Professional Examination (CPE) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) recognised by the UK professional bodies, may also qualify. Non-law graduates may also be considered on the basis of exceptional professional experience (of at least 5 years) in a legal area or an area directly related to their programme of study.
Modules include: EU financial law; EU justice and home affairs; European internal market law; external relations law of the European union; judicial protection in the EU; EU immigration law; EU criminal law; EU constitutional law i: concepts, values and principles; EU constitutional law ii: governance; european union tax law; European Union competition law; european human rights law; terrorism and human rights; terrorism and human rights: constitutional perspectives; migration, security and human rights; european healthcare law; EU healthcare law: rights, policies and instruments; competition and regulation in EU healthcare markets; market; integration and regulation in the european internal market; free movement of persons in the european union.
