International Public Policy

The course will provide you with an intellectually stimulating and wide-ranging analysis of the concepts, actors and processes involved in international public policy. You will discuss the development, possibilities and limitations of international policymaking in the contemporary period, including such issues as the relationship between international and domestic law, the problems of cooperation, and the role of international organisations and non-state actors in policy-making.

Entry requirements

An upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in a related subject. Professional experience and expertise may also be taken into consideration. If English is not your native language, IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.

Course modules

Compulsory modules: International public policy: concepts and practice; theories of the policy-making process; political analysis; optional modules: case studies EU policy making; implementation and evaluation of public policy; globalisation and the international political economy of development; international security: war and peace in a global context; EU as an international actor; international relations of the Middle East; public opinion in British politics; think tanks and British politics; lobbying and public affairs.

Assessment methods

Assessment will be by essays and a dissertation.
