This course offers students the chance to undertake an advanced Master's programme through an extended research project; the programme is suitable for excellent students who have an interest in advanced research-based study in one of the department's research specialisms: computer vision; information retrieval; interaction media and communication; logic and semantics; and risk assessment and decision analysis; students join 1 of these research groups undertaking 4 selected study topics and an extended research project; students have the opportunity to develop further research and technical skills and to be able to show a demonstrable level of independence which is greater than that provided in a purely taught course structure; this programme gives a solid theoretical and practical research competences in the chosen field of study and an additional degree qualification.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree (1st or upper 2nd Class) with a substantial computer science component (at least half) or equivalent industrial experience; good programming skills for undertaking the practical elements of the course.
