The course offers the research strengths of the School of Mathematical Sciences, and are concentrated in pure mathematics (especially algebra and combinatorics), probability & statistics, dynamical systems, and astronomy. Students can study mostly pure mathematics, pure and applied mathematics (including, if desired, some astronomy and relativity), or mathematics and statistics.
A 1st or upper 2nd Class degree in mathematics, or in mathematics with another subject, such as statistics, physics or computing.
Assessment is by a mixture of in-term assessment and final examinations. Examinations are held between late April and early June. Dissertations are evaluated in September.
