The aim of this programme is to provide an integrative understanding of the theory and practice of international business, and an insight into the different national and cultural challenges of management in a globalised environment. Students gain an understanding of the tools, techniques and practical skills associated with operating an organisation across borders, and an appreciation of the interactions between firms, governments and society in an international context.
International students must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study or research. Non-EEA nationals must also satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) immigration requirements for English language for visa purposes. Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required. *Taken within the last 2 years.
Modules include: Fundamentals of international business strategy; global supply chains and logistics; human resource management and work in the global context; international management in practice; management control in international business; marketing in the world economy; research methods; the multinational enterprise.
Assessment is by a variety of methods and can include individual coursework; group work; oral presentations; simulations; case studies; class tests; examinations; a 14,000-17,000 word dissertation.
