This programme aims to provide students with an opportunity to develop an advanced knowledge of French, Irish, Spanish or Portuguese, and to acquire research skills which will enhance their careers and/or provide a foundation for PhD study.
Normally a 2.1 Honours degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University. International students must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study or research. Non-EEA nationals must also satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) immigration requirements for English language for visa purposes. Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required. *Taken within the last 2 years.
Modules include: Research methodologies; advanced language study: language 1; advanced language study: language 2; dissertation.
Assessment methods include: Coursework essays; projects; language work; a 15,000-word dissertation.
