The research interests of the School and staff covers 5 broad areas: contemporary Irish political history: political history; political science; political ideas; electoral studies; policy formation and administration; governance and public policy, with a particular emphasis on: European Union politics; public opinion; gender studies; governance; international politics and ethnic conflict: International relations; comparative ethnic conflict; security studies; cultural studies; international political economy; terrorism; philosophy: Metaphysics; philosophy of mind; philosophy of mathematics and logic; history of philosophy (ancient, medieval, modern); philosophy of history; epistemology; moral philosophy; political philosophy; philosophy of law; philosophy of religion; political theory: Political thought; utopian political theory; contemporary political philosophy; green political thought; post-structuralism; democratic political theory; the politics of recognition.

Entry requirements

Upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant discipline; students whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 5.5 in each individual component (or equivalent qualification).
