Queen's University Belfast
Research centres on: High performance and distributed computing (HPDC); knowledge and data engineering (KDE); speech, image and vision systems (SIVS). HPDC products have produced demonstrations of Grid technology in real applications. KDE researches theoretical and application-oriented issues in soft computing, addressing the latest development and applications of knowledge and data systems for solving extensive, complex, technological socio-economic problems. Different techniques in the design of advanced knowledge systems are developed and research directions are investigated. SIVS carries out research in intelligent video surveillance, 3D medical imaging and speech processing.
Minimum of an upper 2nd Class Honours degree or an equivalent qualification; applicants whose 1st language is not English require either an IELTS test or equivalent to a suitable standard (IELTS score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each individual component) or to have achieved a 1st degree or equivalent qualification in an English speaking country.
