For PhD degrees candidates should have a 2.1 degree as a minimum and it is recommended a taught Masters degree; there may be a specific requirement (e.g. language skills; driving license; willingness to travel) associated with particular projects these are clearly identified where necessary. Students whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5 in individual components (or equivalent qualifications).
Current research interests include: Bayesian networks and probabilistic graphical models; continuous and discrete optimisations; cost modelling and effectiveness analysis; decision trees, clustering, random forests and other aspects of data mining; longitudinal data analysis; non-parametric estimation; simulation, real-time modelling; survival analysis, Markov modelling and stochastic processes.
