For PhD degrees candidates should have a 2.1 degree as a minimum and it is recommended a taught Masters degree; whilst this is not a formal requirement students in receipt of a good Masters degree may in some cases be ranked higher for funding than students with only an undergraduate degree; please note that there are different requirements between entrance requirements and requirements for funding, which are assessed separately; there may be a specific requirement (e.g. language skills; driving license; willingness to travel) associated with particular projects these are clearly identified where necessary.
Modules include: Molecular biology; cell biology and cell signalling; microbial biochemistry and genomics; stress metabolism; bioremediation; parasite biology, physiology and therapeutics; protein biochemistry, expression and engineering; peptide/protein modelling and synthesis; bioimaging.
