Oil and Gas Finance

The course is intended to provide students with the opportunity to develop the relevant knowledge and skills to engage with the industry's complex finance issues. It emphasises practical problem-solving, analytical financial modelling and essential transferrable skills in researching, quantifying, evaluating and managing the financial risks and rewards of oil and gas investments.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree in any quantitative/numerically orientated degree (including engineering, mathematics, physics, economics, accounting, geology, etc.) is a general entry requirement. Applicants having a degree or degree equivalent qualification and relevant work experience may also be considered, as may qualifications from approved professional accountancy bodies such as ACCA and CIMA, where the previous qualification or experience provides a suitable basis for studies in quantitative finance. All international students, for whom English is not their 1st language, must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Oil and gas management; finance theory; quantitative methods for finance; energy finance; research methods; petroleum economics and asset management; financial modelling and valuation of oil and gas projects; oil and gas markets and derivatives; dissertation.
