Professional Legal Practice
The Diploma in Professional Legal Practice enables graduates to practice as solicitors in Scotland. This is an accredited PEAT 1 course accredited by the Law Society of Scotland. After completion of an LLB Degree from a Scottish university, or the professional examinations of The Law Society of Scotland, those who intend to become solicitors in Scotland are required to undertake the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
To gain admission to the Diploma course entrants require to obtain passes in certain 'core' subjects (prerequisite professional subjects) in their LLB Degree from a Scottish university. Alternatively you will have undertaken a pre-Diploma training contract and completed the Law Society of Scotland's professional qualifying examinations.
Modules: conveyancing; private client; litigation; business finance and practice. And selected modules from the following options: commercial conveyancing; advanced civil litigation; company and commercial; oil and gas practice; employment practice; negotiation, arbitration and mediation; public administration.
