Energy and Sustainability

This course is designed to receive graduates from a range of backgrounds (engineering, business, architecture, environmental and social sciences) and draw them into an understanding of the full breadth of human sustainability with energy as the core theme.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those who hold an Honours degree, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline at 2.2 or above. However, we treat each applicant individually, if you have appropriate experience and the academic potential then we will interview you for a place. All students for whom English is not their 1st language must provide evidence of their English language skills by gaining Academic IELTS with 6.5 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Compulsory module: Energy and sustainability (the interdisciplinary roots). Choose 7 of the following modules: Corporate social responsibility in the energy sector; urban environment and social regeneration; building sustainable community relations; renewable energy issues; oil and gas management; environmental aspects of oil and gas law; asset life cycle analysis; design management; existing building refurbishment; sustainable development; building science; low carbon housing; carbon dioxide management; environmental impact and risk assessment; sustainable energy systems; sustainable energy resources; security, conflict and energy; economic context of energy.
