Computing (Software Technology with Network Management)

The course provides an opportunity for graduates of non-computing disciplines to develop the specialist skills suitable for a career in computing. It allows those who wish to apply their knowledge and expertise in a technical environment to develop the core computing skills needed to do so. You will develop skills in software development, database systems, network management and web programming, as well as the research and development skills required to undertake a sustained piece of software project work. The software project engineering, Cisco modules and project modules are of particular value to employers.

Entry requirements

This course is ideal for students who possess a 1st degree in any non-computing discipline. Other qualifications and experience will be considered with entry being subject to the University's judgement that the person has reasonable expectation of being able to fulfil the requirements of the award. All international students, for whom English is not their 1st language, must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component)or its equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Introduction to object oriented programming; information technology infrastructure and service management; data management; software project engineering; object-oriented programming techniques; intranet systems development; project investigation; project; Cisco CCNA semester 1 and 2; Cisco CCNA semesters 3 and 4.
