Oil and Gas Engineering

This course provides the knowledge required for a range of professional careers within the oil and gas industry. You will gain an understanding of engineering relevant to upstream oil and gas engineering. It develops professional levels of skill in key subject areas by building on a foundation of 1st degree level scientific and mathematical skills. Typical students include new graduates and people working in oil and gas companies, energy companies, national oil companies, engineering firms, and project service companies.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a good Honours degree from a UK University or an overseas equivalent qualification in engineering or a related discipline. Those with other qualifications, but with considerable appropriate industrial experience, may be considered. Students from Nigeria should have a 2.1 or above in engineering or a related discipline. Students for whom English is not their 1st language must provide evidence of their English language skills by gaining academic IELTS with 6.5 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in each element (or equivalent).

Course modules

Modules include: Business essentials; wells; facilities; subsurface; materials and corrosion science; well completions and subsea systems; engineering project management; environmental impact and risk management.
