Subsea Engineering

The course is aimed at engineers who already have some relevant offshore oil and gas experience and high calibre graduates who wish to enhance their employability in the subsea industry. A broad range of topics is covered including well engineering and topside processing facilities as well as the core areas of subsea engineering including: Subsea systems; subsea control; pipelines and risers; corrosion and subsea reliability.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have an Honours degree in engineering at level 2.1 or above. Applicants with engineering degree at 2.2 level with relevant years of industry experience may be considered. Those with other qualifications but with considerable years of relevant work experience may be considered. All students for whom English is not their 1st language must provide evidence of their English language skills by gaining academic IELTS with 6.5 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: The oceans, operability and humans in the ocean; wells; facilities; subsea systems; subsea pipeline and riser design; subsea systems reliability and risks; materials and corrosion science; control and telemetry systems.
