Corporate Social Responsibility and Energy

This course aims to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to help formulate and manage a socially responsible agenda. In particular you will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the influences upon, and impacts of, the energy sector, learn how to manage these impacts and develop the capacity to provide ethical leadership. We will help you to achieve this through exposure to a number of different disciplines associated with the articulation of corporate social responsibility. These include business studies, cultural studies, economics, engineering, political science, research methodology and sociology.

Entry requirements

You should have a university degree at Honours level or equivalent, or at least 2 or 3 years relevant work experience. All international applicants for whom English is not their 1st language must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by either gaining IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Course modules

Stage 1: Corporate social responsibility in the energy sector; economic contexts of energy. Choose 2 modules from the following: Health in the energy sector; energy, sustainability and society; sustainable development; project fundamentals; public relations theory and practice; environmental impacts of energy generation. Stage 2: Research methods for corporate social responsibility and energy; building sustainable community relations. Choose 2 modules from the following: Ethical and effective leadership; security, conflict, oil and gas; urban environment and social regeneration; people (environment studies); project strategy and leadership; critical approaches to corporate communication. Stage 3: Dissertation.
