This programme allows students to focus solely on general business or select modules enabling a focus on wine, food, equine, agriculture, sustainability or international business to contextualise their studies in a sector of their choice; it offers an opportunity for those who would like to work in this area to study the marketing, finance, economics, people management and strategic issues faced by businesses both in the UK and internationally.
Applicants normally require an Honours degree (minimum 2.2) or an overseas equivalent; mature candidates with significant relevant work experience and lower academic qualifications may be considered for entry following interview; Applicants whose 1st language is not English must achieve an 6.5 average with no element below 5.5 in IELTS. Applicants without a first degree but with acceptable professional qualifications and/or acceptable management experience may also be considered.
Modules include: Business strategy; personal and organisational change; marketing, planning and strategy; economics and policy; research methods; either financial management or finance; dissertation. Options: Exploring management practice experientially; food chain; international business; strategic information management; agricultural management; farm business management; equine business management; equine husbandry; equine industry; viticulture and vinification; wine industry; wine study tour; economics of the environment; sustainable development.
Assessment is by continuous assessment, final examinations and a written dissertation.
