Students study historical interpretation and communication and have an opportunity to work alongside practitioners in the field, including museum curators, public archivists, publishers and TV and radio producers; the course is a specialised qualification for those wishing to pursue a career in history working in broadcasting or in film, in museums, heritage or in journalism.
2nd Class Honours degree upper division; or equivalent.
Core units: Studying and communicating the past; history past and present: definitions, concepts and approaches; the public communication and understanding of history; pathways to the past; the voice of the public, oral history in public history; the public history project dissertation.
Assessment is carried out by a variety of methods including coursework, examinations and a dissertation.
