Music Performance

This course is aimed at those with an interest in developing an already strong performance profile towards a career in performance and/or teaching. If you are looking for the rich and varied intellectual and creative environment offered by a university, as opposed to a conservatoire, this could be the programme for you.Students will work towards a final recital performance, with the support of group seminars and individual tuition on their instrument or voice. They will be able to study individually either with Royal Holloway-affiliated performance teachers, or an external teacher of their choice, subject to agreement with the Music department.

Entry requirements

Undergraduate degree in music, performance with a mark of II (i) in the performance component. Candidates will only be offered places following audition. Alternatives will not normally apply, however the department welcomes all enquiries. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 overall with 7 in Writing and minimum of 5.5 in each subscore.

Special Study: Performance.

A wide range of optional modules are also available.

Assessment methods

Formative assessment will be provided during the programme, in the context of 1-to-1 performance tuition and seminars, as well as classes and individual tutorials. Summative assessment will be made of the final recital, and of further submissions as part of the electives (a combination of further performances and written work).
