Networking Professional (Cisco)
Designed for recent graduates and career-minded professionals, this course combines academic study with professional qualifications to offer both Master�s and Cisco certification. As part of the course students can take the associated Cisco exams to become a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) free of charge. The course involves intensive study at the University for 9 months followed by a 3 month research project to develop the skills and qualifications needed to progress in the industry. Students combine Cisco training with Master�s level learning and teaching and develop professional and managerial skills in IT systems in organisations.
Honours degree in computing or a related discipline such as communications or electronic engineering; students who do not have a 1st degree are considered if they have extensive work experience and other formal and professional qualifications in network-related subjects; applicants whose 1st language is not English: IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent).
Modules include: study skills; industrial expertise; research principles; LAN design and implementation; internet working switches and routers; WAN design and implementation; IT project management; web application design and modelling; network security.
Assessment is by: essays; technical reports; presentations; group work; demonstrations; online tests; research projects.
