The course is aimed at mid-career professionals wishing to make the move to senior management within industrial and manufacturing organisations. Students examine the latest business thinking and gain expert knowledge of engineering and technology issues and theories to become an effective senior manager in this sector.
Normally at least a 2nd Class Honours degree from a British institution in a relevant engineering, science or management subject, or an equivalent qualification from the UK or overseas. In addition, applicants should have at least 2 years of industrial experience. We welcome applications from people with relevant professional and long industrial experience who do not have the above formal qualifications. Overseas applicants from countries whose 1st language is not English must normally produce evidence of competence in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent) is the standard for non-native speakers of English.
General management modules include: Management of strategy, change and innovation; lean operations; project and quality management; finance and industrial marketing. Industrial Management modules include: Advanced manufacturing technology; supply chain and manufacturing strategy; manufacturing systems; business process management. Project: Industrial management dissertation.
Assessment is by final examination, coursework and project reports.
