Students update and develop their understanding of how to design and develop IT systems, processes and technologies on this masters course. Students will develop their technical knowledge and expertise to an advanced level through practical and theoretical study of the latest tools and techniques relevant to employers in industry, commerce and the public sector. Students will learn the latest theories and skills for modern IT design and development, gain both practical experience and theoretical knowledge and develop academic, professional and communication skills to improve career prospects.

Entry requirements

Applicants should normally hold a good Honours degree, typically 2.2 or above, from a UK university or equivalent from overseas university. Overseas applicants from countries whose 1st language is not English must normally produce evidence of competence in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent) is the standard for non-native speakers of English.

Course modules

Technical modules: Web application design and modelling; logical database development; databases and the web; web services; dissertation. IT professional modules: Study skills; industrial expertise; research principles.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include coursework, projects and presentations.
