The programme is suitable for either experienced practitioners and well-qualified graduates looking develop their research skills: a research degree allows students to carry out supervised research into a wide range of areas such as pedagogy and new technologies, autism, and leadership and management in education. Students train in research methods relevant to education; conduct supervised research to produce an original contribution to knowledge in the field; study for 1 year on MPhil before transferring to PhD.
Normally a UK Honours degree (1st or upper 2nd Class) or a UK Master�s degree. Candidates with other qualifications are considered individually. A relevant UK Master�s degree with a substantial research training element to apply for direct PhD registration. If English is not applicants 1st language: IELTS 6.5 score with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills or equivalent. Alternatively a Sheffield Hallam University pre-sessional English course which will enable candidates to achieve an equivalent English score.
