Physician Associate Studies
The course provides you with opportunities to develop expert medical knowledge and skills in taking medical histories, examining patients, providing a diagnosis, analysing results and developing management plans and pathways. Learning takes place in the classroom, in simulated clinical learning suites and whilst on clinical placement. Applicants can work with students on other healthcare professional courses, such as nursing and physiotherapy, through our interprofessional learning module which all healthcare students study. You complete 1,600 hours of clinical placements during the course. You learn in general hospital settings in medicine and surgery, as well as specialised areas such as paediatrics and mental health, and in primary care in GP practices.
Applicants require a 2.2 Honours degree in a life sciences degree, such as biology, biochemistry, biomedical science, medical science, nursing or physiotherapy, or an equivalent qualification gained within the last 5 years; 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including mathematics and English or English literature and a science or equivalent. If English is not the applicants native language you need an overall IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
